This place is a God send. Paid for $100 gas for me after I got stranded in Peoria after being overcharged for work done on my vehicle. After being absolutely broke and having no friends or family being able to assist me, I felt hopeless. St. Vincent de Paul was the only place that helped. Made it home to Kansas City.

Had a funeral mass for my wife's Aunt today. Service was well done all the staff were very well versed in the mass. The church was very well taken care of. The pride in the details showed.

You call for help, and they never help. I think they just act like they help people to make it look good for the members of the church that actually donate. I think maybe the people donating should see how many people they actually help and where the money is really going.

I admit that I am biased on this one. As a kid, I was serving as an altar boy and attending Mass here back when it was celebrated in the school gym before the current church was built. And I attended the school from first through fourth grade, so it has been a home of sorts for many years. As such, it will always be the late Fr. Livingston's place to me, and that man set a standard -- both theologically and operationally -- that I have rarely seen. For example, despite being a design and construction product of the late '70s and early '80s, the church's tabernacle is right where it should be: at the center of the sanctuary, and not moved off to the side as was far too common in churches of that vintage.

Fast-forwarding to the present, the current priests are a definite improvement on some of their own predecessors and are doing good work, and it's not as if their homilies are packed with heresies or anything along those lines. In short, St. Vincent is most definitely NOT a place to be avoided. But it's also not the same as it was under Fr. Livingston back in the day, and perhaps it's unrealistic to expect anything else...

I haven't attended here but plan to. But as with most catholic churches, they provide help to the community in a variety of ways. The people were genuine and helpful.

Great parish. Accessible from road. Very good with maintaining the parking lot with salt and plowing after bad winter weather.
